Tina Tyus-Shaw is a strong woman with a great love for life who was born to shine. The veteran TV news anchor spent the last 25 years at WSAV-TV in Savannah, Georgia. She has always had a desire to wake people up and inspire them to unleash the magical, magnetic message deep within that only they can deliver to the world.
Earning numerous awards for her achievement in media and dedication to the community, Tina also earned the title of Best Specialty Reporter by the Georgia Associated Press for her series on women’s health. She has been featured in several publications including Savannah’s South Magazine, The Spirit Newspaper, and The Griffin Daily News. Tina garnered top regional honors from the Radio Television Digital New Association (an Edward R. Murrow award) for breaking news coverage. Most notably, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences inducted her into the Silver Circle, an honor reserved only for journalists who’ve had a lasting impact on their profession.
Tina received her Bachelors in Speech Communication and Theatre from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She launched Owning the Stage program for teenage girls and women in May, 2016.
Tina believes in living her best life with passion and grace, and allowing only God to define who she is and her purpose in life. Her most important obligation in life is to love her family. While they may navigate in different directions, she knows love never ends. Tina shares six children with her husband of 16 years, Retired Army Sergeant James Shaw.
