Even though Stephanie Williams was born in Queens, N.Y., she was always meant to be a Southern Belle. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, she credits living around the corner from the legendary Stax Records for her love for beautiful words and music. She spent a lot of time listening to radio as well and eventually would find something that would foster her passions which grew to include songwriting and poetry.
Stephanie married young and relocated to Oklahoma but after the birth of two sons and a divorce she landed back in Memphis and a radio essay contest became the answer to her prayers. She won first-place prize, a visit to the local stations and a chance to talk on air. She was hooked and through much persistence, she turned a radio internship into a radio career that spanned more than 20 years in Atlanta, where she co-hosted internationally syndicated show “Lost in the 80s, and Dallas where she served as Music Director for the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.
Radio fulfilled her love for music but another dream, turning her writing hobby into a profession was her next goal.
With the undying support from her grown sons she’s dedicating this chapter of her life to becoming a best-selling author. Stephanie currently resides in Washington DC. where she is completing her first novel. She has also contributed articles to BlackAmericaWeb.com. The Shift Collaboration is her first book.
